UCI women ranked No. 37 in ITA national poll

The UC Irvine women’s tennis team is ranked No. 37 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn. preseason rankings.
UCI’s 2008 schedule features 15 teams ranked in the preseason top 75.
UCI faces No. 3 UCLA, No. 8 USC, No. 14 Fresno State and No. 18 Pepperdine among several ranked opponents.
The Anteaters finished the 2006-07 season 21-5 and ranked No. 35 after a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Texas.
Coach Mike Edles’ regular-season Big West Conference champions (7-0 against Big West foes), were ranked as high as No. 28 last year.
UCI opens the season Friday at No. 8 USC at 1:30 p.m.
