Orange County tennis greats Rick Leach and Scott Davis will and other top pros will participate in a tennis tournament Feb. 2 to raise money for local athlete Howard Dell.
Dell, the fitness director for the Newport Beach Tennis Club, suffers from terminal liver disease, the same disease that claimed the life of Walter Payton.
The Howard Dell Pro-Am tournament will raise money for the Olympian and former pro football player.
Dell, who competed on the 1988 Canadian bobsled team, is also a substitute teacher at Corona del Mar High.
The tournament will be held Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. at Newport Beach Tennis Club. The entry fee for a Pro-Am spot is $250, or supporters can play in the round robin tournament, which is $50.
