Board adds reconfiguration information workshops

Newport-Mesa school district officials have added two evening information workshops on the proposed school district reconfiguration.

The proposed reconfiguration would tweak enrollment areas because all elementary schools are proposed to become kindergarten through sixth grade and all middle schools would be sixth- and seventh-grade only.

There has also been discussion of converting Davis School, for fourth- through sixth-graders to a magnet school.

The two evening meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m., Jan. 19, at Rea Elementary School and 6 p.m., Feb. 5, at Costa Mesa High School.

The next meeting scheduled is 9:30 a.m. Monday at Estancia High School. Two more morning meetings are scheduled for 9, Jan. 18 at Corona del Mar High School and at 10, Feb. 1, at Sonora Elementary School. School board members may consider the plan at their Feb. 12 meeting.
