New coffee house opens in former Diedrich locale
Buon Giorno Coffee, an Italian-style coffee house, had its grand opening Saturday in the spot formerly occupied by Diedrich Coffee at 474 E. 17th St. in Costa Mesa.
Athos Fiori, the cafe’s cofounder and vice president of operations, opened Buon Giorno after years of working as a coffee distributor and importer for other restaurants.
His new endeavor features an orange juice squeezer, a smoothie machine and frozen desserts from Italy.
Fiori said he hoped to expand the cafe into a chain.
“This is the prototype,” Fiori said. “We are planning to do 10 in the next five years.”
Buon Giorno is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
