Rebels move on to regional soccer final

The Laguna Beach Rebels Under-12 soccer team went 3-0 in pool play and won a semifinal match in overtime last weekend to move on to the championship final of the AYSO South Orange County Area 11 Regional Soccer Tournament of Champions in San Juan Capistrano.

The Rebels, coached by Mitch Kruger and assistant coach Larry Jacobs, won all but one game during the regular season and then went undefeated in the Laguna Beach city tournament to get to the Tournament of Champions.

The Rebels are Aspen Rocha, Tatum Browne, Katie Silva-Grizzle, Makena Collins, Zoë Hefter-Smith, Stella Duval, Makena Guthrie, Sammy Kruger, Kate Stanton, Lindsay Jacobs, Hailey Quigley, Danielle Gromet and Tess Duval.

Beach volleyball classes offered in January

Beach volleyball classes will be offered for the first time at Main Beach starting Jan. 12 for beginning through advanced players, ages 16-and-over.

Both the 9 a.m. beginning/ intermediate and 10:30 a.m. advanced sessions offer a workout emphasizing core skills, strength, flexibility and ball control, in a fun and social setting.

Novice players will learn the game in a relaxed environment and advanced players can get in shape and hone their skills for tournament and challenge court play. Future classes will be offered in the spring and summer as well.
