SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Senior Kirby Anderson scored five goals for the Lightning in their Academy League opener Tuesdday.

Senior Sara Montazami and sophomore Jordan Team scored two goals each, while freshman Megan Kim had one for Sage Hill (3-3-1). Junior Isa-Maria Taskinen led Sage Hill with three assists and sophomore Megan Culberson added two. Senior Jules McLaughlin and junior Brynne Quinlan contributed one assist each for the Lightning, who will play host to Calvary Chapel today at 3:15 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Emily Ohlhaver produced two assists for the Sailors in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Ohlhaver assisted junior Lauren Devoy for a 1-0 lead. Then sophomore Melissa Hancock scored off a Ohlhaver assist for a 2-0 advantage. El Modena scored just before halftime. But in the second half, Newport Harbor sophomore Brianna Schwartz rounded out the scoring on an assist by sophomore Leslie Drewry. Sailors junior goalie Stephanie Castor recorded four saves.

Newport Harbor (5-3-3) will play at Aliso Niguel Thursday at 5 p.m.

Estancia 7, La Quinta 0

WESTMINSTER — Senior Jennifer Thomas scored twice in the Eagles’ nonleague win Tuesday.

Seniors Taylor West and Stacy McDaniels, as well as sophomores Jillian Beck, Kendra Fisher and Daisy Martinez scored one goal each for Estancia (7-5-1).

The Eagles, who went 2-1 in the Irvine Team Challenge last weekend, will play host to Huntington Beach on Thursday at 3 p.m.

ANAHEIM — Seniors Michelle Figueroa and Jasmine Werdel scored 21 points each for the Mustangs in a consolation quarterfinal of the Magnolia Tournament Tuesday.

Figueroa also had five assists and four steals, while Werdel also contributed nine rebounds and five blocks. Senior Denise Rosello added 10 points for Costa Mesa (5-4), which plays Thursday at 8:15 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

The Lightning go up against Antelope Valley Christian in pool-play action Thursday.
