Atkinson returns as the president of water district

The Mesa Consolidated Water District board of directors announced James F. Atkinson was elected its new president at a Dec. 10 meeting. Shawn Dewane was elected to the board as first vice president.

Atkinson won the vote after serving on the board for nearly a decade and two previous terms as president in 2002 and 2003. Dewane has served on the board since 2005, and currently serves on the Public Information Committee and Chairs the Finance Committee.

Directors Fred Bockmiller, Trudy Ohlig-Hall, and Paul E. Shoenberger will continue to serve as vice presidents on the board.

The Mesa Consolidated Water District services Costa Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, and John Wayne Airport.
