Harman highlights small shops to discourage tax hike

State Sen. Tom Harman recently announced he will begin showcasing an Orange County business every month to highlight the county’s contributions to state economy.

Noritz, a tank-less water heater company in Fountain Valley, was the first business honored.

The senator, who fears that many in Sacramento will be tempted to increase taxes to bridge California’s $10-billion deficit, hopes these features will remind lawmakers that these types of businesses boost the state’s economy.

“Small businesses are the backbone to our state’s economy,” he stated in a news release. “Now is the time for this legislature to adopt policies that welcome and attract small businesses, and not make it harder for these ‘Mom ’n’ Pop’ companies to stay afloat.”
