MARATHON TRAINING AID
A new online feature can help runners and walkers better prepare for the Avia Orange County Marathon, scheduled Jan. 6.
Created by realbuzz.com, a UK-based lifestyle and community networking site focused on running, health and fitness, individuals can go to www.ocmarathon.com to plan and track their training runs in a system similar to that of Mapquest.
After creating an account, individuals can pick a starting point, navigate through area maps and create a course.
The feature will record distances while providing street names and landmarks.
Runners and walkers can also post blogs and create discussions groups on the marathon website, allowing them to share information.
COACHES WANTED
Costa Mesa High is seeking an assistant boys’ and girls’ distance running coach for track and field, who can also work with cross country runners over the summer.
Interested applicants should contact the Costa Mesa Athletic Office (714) 424-8708.
