Green Chargers head into championship
Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football will be represented in the Wescon championship game Nov. 25.
The Jr. Pee Wee Division Green Chargers will carry the chapter banner into that title game in San Diego.
Huntington earned a spot in the Wescon final by defeating the San Dimas Spartans last Saturday, 32-0, in the opening weekend of Wescon play.
A win Nov. 25 would send the Green Chargers to Florida for the division’s national championship game the week of Dec. 2-8.
Huntington had earned a berth in the Wescon playoffs by edging North Long Beach, 27-26, in the division’s Orange Bowl game Nov. 3.
In youth baseball news:
The 14-and-Under H.B. Vikings Baseball Club team won the Amateur Athletic Union’s Veterans Day NIT Qualifier last weekend in San Clemente, capped by a 5-1 victory over the Newport Beach Bat Rays in the tournament’s championship game.
The win qualifies the Vikings for the 2008 AAU National Championship Tournament at the Disney Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
During the tournament, the Vikings allowed just five runs in four games.
