CdM girls tennis team ready to tangle with Troy

Over the last couple of years, the Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team has clashed with Troy High, of Fullerton, quite a bit.
The two teams continue their rivalry today at 2 p.m. at Troy in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.
Both No. 3-seeded CdM (19-2) and No. 2-seeded Troy (17-0) are trying to get back to the Claremont Club for Monday’s CIF championship match. It was there that the Sea Kings defeated the Warriors last year, 13-5, to win the Division I crown and cap an undefeated season.
But Troy won when the teams met in a nonleague match, 10-8, at CdM on Sept. 18. That match ended CdM’s 35-match winning streak that had dated back to 2005.
Troy is led by senior Alison Ramos, the Warriors’ No. 1 singles player who is headed for USC, as well as junior Stefanie Villajuan.
The winner of today’s semifinal match will play either No. 1-seeded Dana Hills or No. 4 Palos Verdes in the championship match Monday.
