IRVINE — Freshman goalie Pat Barton had two saves in the second overtime period to help preserve the Big West Conference tie for the hosts Tuesday night.
UCI junior Shane Westbrook scored on a cross from freshman Indar Smith in the 88th minute for a 1-0 lead. But the Highlanders answered back with just 59 seconds left in regulation.
Both teams played with 10 players in the two overtime periods because of red cards. The Highlanders lost Andrew Villalobos in the 24th minute and UCI’s Westbrook was sidelined near the end of regulation.
The match was the school-record eighth overtime match of the year for the Anteaters (6-7-5, 1-6-3 in conference).

COSTA MESA — Eric O’Mahony scored a team-high 19 points for the Pirates in the nonconference game Tuesday night.
Matthew Ching and Brian Helmuth added 12 points each for OCC (0-3), which led, 44-39, at the half.
Brian Molina, a Costa Mesa High product, scored 11 points for the Pirates.

RIVERSIDE — Kelsey Wirt’s seven kills led the Lions in their season-ending 30-17, 30-24, 30-15 loss in the first round of the NAIA Region II playoffs.
Alexandra Griffiths led No. 17-ranked Vanguard (10-15) with 14 digs.
Verania Willis had 22 kills to lead No. 2-ranked Cal Baptist (25-3).
