MAILBAG:

It is woven deep within our fabric, deep within our quilt,

No matter the charge, he must be innocent of guilt,

But this man stands in different shoes and is the holder of the public trust,

Yet we find him in irons and chains, moral fiber somewhat pitted and in rust,

We are all weak, and far be it for me to cast a stone,

That a sheriff should need a mistress and stray from hearth and home,

A fish rots from the head, it rots from the top,

A possible felon, he cannot stay as our head cop.

A fair trial he will receive, but there are not enough bulkheads in the Carona boat,

To keep the green line of khaki non-distracted and a department afloat.

It is bad enough a potential felon is to roam on bail, and is allowed to keep his piece,

His badge has been dishonored, his authority should this moment cease.

Worse, by not serving at least a few hours at the Orange County jail,

He misses the lawless acts often practiced by his charges beyond the pale.

Resign, if your deputies will still follow your orders and commands despite your feloned taint,

God help us all, may He please bring forth to protect us all the angels and the saints.

Panini’s location, revenues help city

As longtime residents of this wonderful community, we would like to speak in favor of the relocation plans of Panini Café. This is a fine business offering reasonably priced meals, and we feel that their move to the new location is good for our city and is an important source of tax revenue.
