WOMEN’S GOLF

USF Invitational

RICHMOND — The UC Irvine women’s golf team placed sixth at the University of San Francisco/Richmond Country Club Invitational Tuesday at the Richmond Country Club.

The Anteaters ended the tournament with a three-round total of 924 (317-301-306), 17 shots behind first-place UC Davis with a 907.

Selanee’ Henderson (four-over-par 75, 71, 76) led UCI, finishing tied for third with USF’s Christina Stockton (76, 73, 73) scoring a 222.

Senior Kim Lorenzana shot a 70 Tuesday to move into a tie for sixth with a 54-hole total of 225 (80-75-70), her second top-10 finish of the fall.

Sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha ended 27th with a score of 236 (78-77-81), sophomore Mariko Makabe finished 43rd after carding a 245 (84-82-79) and freshman Sarah Fox ended the tournament in 44th with a two-day total of 246 (85-78-83).

Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational

KAHUKU, Hawaii — The UCI men’s golf team will start today’s final round in second place.

Tennessee leads the 21-team field at 41-under-par 539 after two rounds, followed by the Anteaters at 30-under 550.

UCI junior Sean Shahi is the individual leader at 12-under 132 (65-67) with Kenny Kim sitting in eighth place at 137 (68-69), John Chin at 17th with a 138 (67-71), Tim Cha in 58th at 143 (70-73) and Bryan Harris in 79th at 147 (71-76).

COSTA MESA — Freshman goalie Dane Fernandez made two saves for OCC in the Orange Empire Conference game Tuesday.

It was the second straight scoreless tie for the Pirates (7-8-6, 3-6-4 in conference), who have now held the other team scorless in four of the seven games they have been blanked this season.

Included in those four 0-0 deadlocks is the Oct. 12 game at Golden West.

OCC closes the season Thursday at Fullerton at 3 p.m.

RIVERSIDE — Senior Kim Wynn recorded eight kills to lead Vanguard in its 30-23, 30-26, 30-18 Golden State Athletic Conference loss to the No. 2-ranked Lancers on Tuesday.

Sophomore Meghan Walsh added 16 assists for the No. 6 Lions (10-14, 8-11 in conference) and sophomore Kelsey Wirt posted 19 digs. Vanguard freshman Alexandra Griffiths finished with 15 digs.

Verania Willis had 21 kills to lead Cal Baptist (24-3, 17-2).
