ANAHEIM — Newport Harbor High suffered just its third loss of the season in a 7-6 setback against Mater Dei on Saturday at Servite High.
Earlier, the Sailors (23-3) topped Ventura, 12-7.
Senior Clinton Jorth scored a combined seven goals in the pair of games, and senior Colin McKibbin had five overall.
Newport Harbor, the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, now awaits the playoff brackets, which will be released today.
The Division I playoffs begin on Thursday.

Academy League Finals
NEWPORT BEACH — Sage Hill School’s Julia Blakeley and Jaclyn Smrecek advanced to the semifinals after their respective performances at the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club Friday.
Blakeley, the No. 2 seed, will play against Brethren Christian’s Kelsey Costales, the No. 3 seed, Monday at 3 p.m., also at the Balboa Bay Racquet Club. Smrecek, the No. 4 seed, goes up against No. 1 seeded Hayley Miller of St. Margaret’s.
