Rice philosophy prof to host 3 weekend religious lectures

Tristam Engelhardt will present a two-day, three-part speech on “The Family in the Culture Wars” next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, at St. Barnabas Orthodox Church in Costa Mesa.

The philosophy professor from Rice University in Houston will discuss “The Traditional Christian Family as Politically Incorrect” in his first address Friday night, following that with “Sexuality, Reproduction, and the family in a Post-Christian Age” and “The Family and the Struggle for Salvation.” Friday’s speech begins at 7 p.m., while the two Saturday sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Engelhardt has received degrees from various universities on his way to developing himself as an American philosopher.
