WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Concordia def. Vanguard

COSTA MESA — Concordia’s Stephanie Scheele had a match-high 10 kills as the Eagles swept the Lions, 30-18, 30-25, 30-20, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match Tuesday at Vanguard.

Senior outside hitter Kim Wynn and sophomore outside hitters Kelsey Wirt and Heather DeJongh each had eight kills for Vanguard (8-12, 6-9 in conference). Junior middle blocker Michal Shortridge and sophomore setter Meghan Walsh each added 15 assists for the Lions, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA.

Wynn and Alexandra Griffiths had 10 digs each for Vanguard.

Concordia (21-3, 12-3) is ranked No. 3.

Vanguard plays at Hope International of Fullerton on Saturday at 7 p.m.

SOCCER

COSTA MESA — Vanguard University’s Golden State Athletic Conference men’s and women’s soccer games at San Diego Christian that were scheduled for Tuesday and today have been cancelled.

At this point, the games will most likely not be made up since the end of the regular season is Saturday and playoffs begin next week.

The GSAC Administrators will be deciding on how the unplayed games will affect the conference standings and the Region II tournament.
