CORONA DEL MAR

WALNUT — The Sea Kings placed 10th in the Division III sweepstakes race Friday with a team score of 1 hour, 25 minutes and 55 seconds.

Thomas Dialynas had CdM’s best individual time of the day with a 15:59 which placed him 15th.

Richard Demarco placed 26th at 16:22, Sebastien Welch finished in 49th at 16:54, Ricky Valdez posted a 17:58 and finished 111th, Blaine Bolis recorded an 18:42 and placed 132nd and Connor Corrigan finished 135th with an 18:47.

SAGE HILL

WALNUT — The boys cross country team had its highest ever finish Friday, placing fifth in the Division V sweepstakes race.

Sage Hill finished with a total time of 1 hour, 27 minutes and 14 seconds.

Connor Rose led the Lightning with an eighth place finish and a time of 16:14.

Other contributors were Sean Mcelroy who finished 14th with a 16:30, Lionel Wintemute at 17:02 placed 26th, Kyle Simon posted an 18:23 and finished 59th, Alex Jimenez ran a 19:05 placing 66th and David Penner finished and 19:12 which placed him 71st.

The girls finished with a total time of 1 hour, 50 minutes and 30 seconds and placed 7th in the Division V sweepstakes race.

Cait Williamson ran a 19:36 which was good enough for fifth place overall.

Katie Mckeon had a 21:24 and placed 20th, Jakie Dion finished 40th with a 22:40. Megan Culberson ran a 23:03 and finished 47th, Iral Brito finished 50th with a 23:47, Lena Xiao ended in 52nd with a 24:10 and Megan Kim finished with a 24:17 that put her in 55th.

COSTA MESA

WALNUT — The boys cross country team placed 20th in the Division III race Friday with a total time of 1 hour and 39 minutes.

Drake Brunett placed a team high 53rd with a time of 18:21.

Other Mustang scores were James Stucker with a 19:16 that placed him 93rd, Jason Rosello finished 103rd with a 19:30, John Sudbeck placed 145th with a 20:28, Carlos Lopez ran a 21:25 and finished 145th, Irvine Dorantes placed 153rd with a 22:37 and Rummon Razzak finished in 160th with a 24:05.

The girls did not record a score for the Division III varsity race but Arlene Sanchez finished in 58th place with a time of 23:27.

The Mt. SAC Invitational continues today with Newport Harbor competing.

Estancia 9, Westminster 7

COSTA MESA — The Eagles held Westminster scoreless in overtime (two periods) to win their fifth game of the season on Friday at Estancia.

Danny O’Neil led the Eagles (5-10) with three goals and goalkeeper Kyle Lux had eight saves.

Charlie Umanski’s goal in the first overtime period put Estancia ahead and Tyler Wayman sealed the win with a goal in the second overtime.

Tustin Tournament

Edison 10, Costa Mesa 9

TUSTIN — The Mustangs lost their opening round match of the Tustin Tournament Friday in sudden death overtime.

Skylar Twohig and Sam Edman both had three goals for Costa Mesa and the Mustangs’ goalkeeper, Jackson O’Connor had eight saves.

Costa Mesa was able rebound in its second game of the day on Cody Serrano’s five goals beating Beckman 13-4.

Goalkeeper Jackson O’Connor had seven saves for Costa Mesa (11-9).

The Mustangs play host to Laguna Beach Tuesday at 4 p.m.
