Arriving resort’s rates will be pricey, executives say

Despite information the Irvine Co. released about its coming resort in Newport Coast, one question persists: How much will it cost to stay there overnight?
Two company executives, speaking Tuesday at a luncheon with the Commercial Real Estate Women Network, offered a ballpark answer: a lot.
“It would be every bit as expensive as you would imagine it to be, I’m sure, but it would be just as memorable an experience,” said Chris Marsh, the company’s senior vice president of development, who added that the company had not yet decided on room prices.
Marsh and Vice President of Architecture Brad Neal showed a series of photographs of the Resort at Pelican Hill under construction, along with artists’ renderings of the golf club, pool and other attractions. They also announced that the Italian-style villas on the property will be available for rent along with the regular bungalow rooms.
The resort is scheduled to open its golf club Nov. 2, with the entire property to open next fall.
