UCI lecture will focus on elderly blindness, glaucoma

UC Irvine Chancellor Michael Drake will discuss the healthcare challenges facing minorities and low-income people Thursday as part of the Allen Lecture Series organized by the Newkirk Center for Science and Society at UCI.
Drake will talk about the latest developments in research on glaucoma and macular degeneration, a leading cause of elderly blindness.
Before becoming chancellor, Drake was the vice president of health affairs for the University of California system.
Drake’s lecture will be at 7 p.m. in the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Science and Engineering building.
