‘Eaters get lead

SAN DIEGO — UC Irvine sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha shot two-under-par 70 to top the field and pace the Anteaters women’s golf team to the team lead after the first day of competition at Lady Azrec Fall Classic at the Salt Creek Golf Course Monday.
UCI’s Kim Lorenzana shot 72 and joins Hawaii’s Lisa Kajihara in second place, heading into today’s final 18 holes.
Freshman Sarah Fox (76 for 18th place), freshman Hillary Packard (79 for 50th) and senior Selaneé Henderson (89 for 100th) helped UCI post its 297 team score, which is four shots ahead of Hawaii.
East Tennessee State (302), San Diego State (304), Eastern Washington (305) and Nevada (305) round out the teams competing.
