Odor-eater for sewer turned off
Sewer odors are back in South Laguna. The super-oxygenation system in the Bluebird sewer pump station has been turned off, City Manager Ken Frank announced Oct. 12 in a weekly memo to the City Council.
“The system is not being utilized at the moment because of breakdowns associated with two brand new pumps which have been installed at that station,” Frank stated in the memorandum. “The pumps are breaking down and the manufacturer is claiming that the oxygenation system could be responsible. Therefore, we have shut down the oxygenation system so it is clear that any trouble is not associated with that equipment. We are working with the manufacturer of the pump to try to get this corrected. In the meantime, we are using chemicals to try and mitigate some of the odors.”
