The owners of Muttropolis, the pet boutique at Fashion Island, have bad news for pets this month: chocolate and most other forms of Halloween candy aren’t good for cats or dogs, and trick-or-treaters would do well to keep their bounty out of reach.

Otherwise, Muttropolis is hoping to let animals in on the fun this Halloween. The store’s Howl-o-ween Boo-tique features a number of costumes for pets, including Spider-Man hoodies, butterfly harnesses, pirates, devils and more. There are also reflective collars and beacon lights so owners can make their pets visible when walking the neighborhood.

Muttropolis, which plans to host a costume party for pets Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., also released a list of pet safety tips for Halloween, including:

 Make sure your pet’s vision and movement are not impaired by the costume.

 If your pet resists being put in a costume, don’t force it.

Irvine Co. promotes Fashion Island Executive to VP

The Irvine Co. has promoted Stephanie Rosanelli Faul, an executive with the company for four years, to vice president of leasing and merchandising for Fashion Island.

Faul, a Newport Beach resident and licensed real estate broker, joined the Irvine Co. as leasing director for the company’s Coastal Collection of retail centers, which include Fashion Island, Corona del Mar Plaza and Crystal Cove Promenade. In that position, Faul helped to bring Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, Vilebrequin, American Rag and other Orange County-exclusive retailers to the shopping centers.
