Oilers shut down Lions in field hockey, 4-0
Holly Harmon posted three goals and the Huntington Beach High girls’ field hockey team posted a shutout at the expense of Westminster, defeating the visiting Lions, 4-0.
Claire Prestridge also scored, and Colleen Ryan and Ramie Masters picked up assists.
Huntington plays at Bonita at 3:15 p.m. today.
Basketball registration ends Saturday
The Huntington Beach chapter of National Junior Basketball is in its final week of accepting registration for its upcoming winter league, which begins in November.
Registration is open to first- through eighth-grade players through Saturday.
Player evaluations will be Oct. 14.

Youth Lacrosse group offers free clinics
The Huntington Beach Blackhawks Youth Lacrosse group is offering free clinics each Sunday through Oct. 21.
The clinics will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Mesa View Middle School in Huntington Beach, 17601 Avilla Lane.
They are open to second- through eighth-grade boys.
The clinics will focus on developing basic skills. Participants must provide their own lacrosse stick and gloves are recommended.
No other equipment will be required or provided.
The official Orange County Lacrosse youth season begins the first full week of November and continues to the end of February.
The Blackhawks are looking for coaches, assistant coaches, referees and team managers to help with their division teams.
