HAUCK, Susan Simpson

Susan Simpson Hauck was a class act. She was born on April 21, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Richard and Beatrice Roach and was the oldest of six children. While attending the University of Michigan, she met and fell in love with Richard Simpson and they married in 1956 shortly after she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. After medical school, Richard was a Navy physician and they were stationed in Hawaii, The Philippines, San Diego and Bethesda, Maryland. They moved to Newport Beach in 1963 where they raised their three sons: Christopher (Marilyn), Timothy (Kelly) and Richard (Jennifer). Following Richard’s death in 1988, Susan married Robert Hauck and was further blessed with his children Leslie and Doug (Kim). She is “Nana” to nine beautiful grandchildren.

Susan worked as a paralegal as well a volunteer at the Assistance League of Newport Mesa. She had a great passion for literature, gardens and the “Walkers.”

Susan passed away peacefully on October 29, 2007.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Saint Andrews Church in Newport Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Newport Harbor Assistance League and Habitat for Humanity.
