Boys Under-14 Recreational

Elmo Attack 3, Lucky Charms 0: Elmo Attack played exceptional, scoring three goals in their game against the Lucky Charms Monday. At the end of the first half Jake Norton scored a header goal off a pass from his older brother, Blake Norton. Elmo Attack scored two more goals in the second half through the teamwork of CJ Tona, Ryan Davidson and Jake Norton and the defense of keepers Trent Brown and Ryan Shannon held the Lucky Charms scoreless. Sweeper Andrew Castillo also played a good defensive game.

Girls Under-11 Plus

Keeper Logan Grove made a huge jump save and Emma Erickson had some big kicks at the sweeper position Sunday. Grace Emmel, Brooke Schweitzer, Kappy Fuller and Brooke Meer played good defense while Abbey Pickett, Claire McCarthy and Mackenzie Gaddis led the Breaker offensive attacks. Collette Vigil and Kate Pipkin made some nice passes in which one was finished with a deft header from Gabby Shelley. Kierstyn Yardley contributed with a big throw-in that put the Breakers in good field position and Molly McCunniff demonstrated good ball control.

Games played Sept. 15

Boys Under-10 Plus

The Boys In Black were able to overcome a strong Corona del Mar team in their 1-0 victory. Reed Rutter and Charlie Stassel starred in goal, as Cody Wildman, Dillon Murphy and Jonathan Farris contributed with excellent protection in defense. Sam Launder, Chase Braun, Josh Lewis and Cole Brockhoff controlled the midfield and battled for several balls. In the final quarter, Alex Foreman served up a pass to Jeremiah Sheldon who scored the game’s only goal.

Boys Under 6

Blue Rockets vs. Green Dragons: Cole McCunniff led the scoring, aided by the great outlet kicks and constant offensive pressure applied by Luke Bashore, Mathew Gurka and Jack Kiesecker. Tommy Kennedy contributed as a defensive stopper. Ryan McCarthy also played well defensively, as did goalie Jackson Bryant and Kori Griscom, who provided a great sliding steal.

Games played Sept. 8-9

Purple Butterflies vs. Pink Zebras: Kasey Scanlon and Lauren Shepherd ran the ball upfield to goal on several occasions for the Purple Butterflies. Owyn Stefano and Mary Kelly held strong in their defensive line.Peyton Cagle demonstrated great determination in her pursuit of the ball.

Boys under 5

Sea Creatures vs. Justice League: Aidan Gassel and Finn McClintock lead the Sea Creatures with two goals apiece in their season opener against the Justice League. Owen Lucas added another goal, while the Sea Creature defense, including Eddie Peterson, rose to the occasion with some great stops.

Yellow Lizards vs. Dragons: It was a scoring frenzy between the Dragons and Yellow Lizards. Both teams seemed to match goals and exhaust themselves in the process. The Yellow Lizards attack featured all first-year players: Anders Olson, Benjamin Roberts, Trevor Muir and Zachary Wilkens.

Orange Crush vs. Red Rockets: Brandon Kincaid, Ethan Westerhout, and Tyler Li all scored for the Orange Crush. Logan DeMoss and Christopher Reimers had great assists and solid defense.

Blue Storm Troopers: The Force was with Blue Storm Troopers, as Will Brown, Cannon Kenney, Griffen Lewis and Jack Larner scored multiple goals. The defense was anchored by Matthew Coar.

SOFTBALL

Pacific Coast team wins

For the first time in Pacific Coast history, the 12-and-under girls’ fast-pitch softball team won a tournament Sept. 9.

The Pacific Coast girls won the Orange County Fall Brawl Tournament, outscoring their opponents, 38-7.

In the championship game, Pacific Coast was down, 3-1, until the last inning when it scored five runs in the top of the seventh, giving it the lead, 6-3. Hattie Marshall pitched a complete game and retired the bottom of the seventh in order. Lauren Gandi, Lindsey Susolik, Brook Miligori, Brenna Landstrom, Ashley Beall, Amanda Le Gault and Hattie Marshall provided excellent hitting in the tournament and Delaney Owen, Hope Nokes, Madison Camirillo and Kelsi Johnson played outstanding defense. Pacific Coast was started in 1997.
