Hoops registration underway

The Huntington Beach chapter of National Junior Basketball is accepting registration for its upcoming winter league, which begins in November.

Registration is open to players in grades first through eighth until Oct. 6. Player evaluations will take place Oct. 14.

Edison No. 4 in football poll

Edison High will carry a No. 4 ranking into tonight’s game against Servite.

The Chargers moved up a spot in this week’s CIF-Southern Section Pac-5 Division poll, which was released Tuesday by the Southern Section office in Los Alamitos. Tonight’s opponent, Servite, also moved up a spot in the poll, going from seventh to sixth.

Pac-5 Division rankings: 1. Mater Dei; 2. Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks; 3. Orange Lutheran; 4. Edison; 5. Long Beach Poly; 6. Servite; 7. Mission Viejo; 8. Crespi; 9. Los Alamitos; 10. Compton.
