Passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at age 51, after a joyful life cut tragically short by cancer, in Newport Beach.
Cheryl had enormous zest for life and a wonderful sense of humor. She was devoted to her family and friends, and they to her. Good food was a constant. After earning a Masters degree in Food & Nutrition from CSLA, she spent 28 years creating specialty cheesecakes and desserts sold to major U.S. retailers and restaurants. Her desserts were the star of friends’ weddings and birthday celebrations as well as frequent parties at the Browns’ home, ranging from impromptu barbecues for 20 to tamale “production lines” at Christmas. Sales of her desserts at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Newport Beach (May 2007) helped the “Delicious Darlings” raise over $40,000.
Cheryl was adored by her husband Scot, who still called her “my beautiful bride” after nearly 19 years of marriage, and her daughter Molly (almost 17) and son Andrew (15). She was an accomplished photographer, enjoyed golf, bicycling, camping, concerts of all types, Bunko, and travel. She was world-class at tracking down the best bargains.
Services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach.
The family would be grateful for contributions made in Cheryl’s memory to “Relay for Life/Newport Beach” (American Cancer Society), in lieu of flowers.
