Former quarterback arrested for possession
Former USC and Raiders quarterback Todd Marvin Marinovich remained behind bars Tuesday after another run-in with the law this weekend, police said.
Newport Beach Police arrested Marinovich, 38, of Newport Beach at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of West Balboa Boulevard on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
Marinovich was arrested in May of 2005 after Newport Beach officers patrolling a public bathroom near 58th Street found him inside in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
In 2000, authorities arrested Marinovich during an afternoon practice session with the Los Angeles Avengers, after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her. Charges were never filed because there was insufficient evidence, according to prosecutors.
Marinovich was taken to Orange County Jail where he was booked on $20,000 bail, police said. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s website Marinovich was still in custody as of Tuesday evening.
