GODFREY, Eric Stephen
October 31, 1942 – August 11, 2007
Eric lived his life with a love of the outdoors, friends and fraternity and most importantly – SPORTS OF ALL KINDS!
Born in Hollywood, California, raised in Arcadia and educated at the University of Southern California, he never left those roots.
In Arcadia, he played on the most interesting Little League Baseball team started by Babe Dahlgren (who took Lou Gehrig’s spot at the end of his spectacular career) and Eric’s father. They built the first Little League Baseball stadium in Arcadia. Eric went on to play stellar baseball at Arcadia High School and Glendale Jr. College before transferring to USC.
Eric was a huge inspiration to future Phi Kappa Psi’s at USC and other universities. His nephew, “little Eric” as he is called, formed the first “colony of Phi Psi’s” at UCI. What a legacy!
God Bless you, Uncle Eric – sports will not be the same without you!
Eric leaves behind his loving sister, Mary Ann (Frank) O’Bryan; cousin, Phil Graf; niece Kelley (Josh) Buscaglio; nephew Eric (Lauren) Norquist; Dominick & Jake Buscaglio and Morgan, Brynne & Nicholas Norquist. We will always be with you, Uncle Eric, forever and ever.
There will be a celebration of Eric’s life Friday, August 17th from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Newport Sports Museum, 100 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations to USC Athletics, c/o Ron Orr, Heritage Hall 203A, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0602 or The Newport Sports Museum, 100 Newport Center Dr., #100, Newport Beach, CA 92660
