Costa Mesa police arrested three people on suspicion of commercial burglary and use of counterfeit credit cards Thursday at South Coast Plaza, police said Friday.
The suspects fled from the plaza near Bloomingdale’s because their transaction was taking longer than normal, Sgt. Bryan Glass said.
Acting on a tip from a mall employee, police stopped the suspects as they were exiting a plaza parking lot and found about 30 fraudulent debit cards and card counterfeiting equipment in the vehicle, Glass said.
The Secret Service has been notified and will assist in the ongoing investigation.
