Costa Mesa welcomes veteran’s memorial
Assemblyman Van Tran helped pave the way for a new veteran’s memorial Sunday in at the Harbor Lawn Ceremony in Costa Mesa. Tran delivered the keynote address to the crowd gathered near the memorial.
“This is a tremendous statement of appreciation of our veterans,” Mayor Allan Mansoor said. “This is something Costa Mesa can really be proud of.”
Tran expressed similar satisfaction with the morning’s event and added that the morning held personal significance for him.
“Have been born and fled from a war-torn country in search of freedom, not a day goes by that I don’t remember that freedom,” Tran said.
The assemblyman laid two bricks as part of the ceremony, one to honor his uncle, a general for the Republic of Southern Vietnam Army, and one for Vietnam War Army veteran Ronnie Guyer.
Bricks are available to purchase through the Costa Mesa Community Foundation www.cm-fund.org.
