Temple Bat Yahm appoints new assistant rabbi

The appointment of Rabbi Teri Appleby as assistant rabbi of Temple Bat Yahm of Newport Beach effective July 1 has been announced by Jerry Neitlich, president of the Reform Jewish congregation.

A recent graduate of the Hebrew Union College, where she received top honors and recognition, Rabbi Appleby holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Gould School of Law at USC.

Appleby will focus on the religious school and pre-school children and their families, and will work closely with Rabbi Mark Miller and Cantor Jonathan Grant on religious services, pastoral duties and life cycle events.

“An attorney before studying for the rabbinate, Rabbi Appleby has shown creativity and innovation on all levels, working extensively with students of all ages and with adult education programs,” Neitlich said.

Temple Bat Yahm, a Reform Jewish congregation stressing strength of tradition, warmth and community offers a complete range of services, including traditional worship services and religious school, on its 7-acre campus at 1011 Camelback St., Newport Beach.
