AROUND TOWN:Council to vote on lights for Costa Mesa’s Bark Park
- Share via
Dogs will have more time to run and play at Costa Mesa’s Bark Park if the City Council votes today to hire a contractor to put in lights for nighttime use.
Opened in 1994 at TeWinkle Park, the Bark Park has been one of the city’s most popular public facilities, rivaled only by the adjacent skate park that opened in 2005.
The council put money for Bark Park lighting in the current year’s budget, and staff members are recommending the city hire D & J Foothill Electrical Contractors Inc., of La Verne, for the work.
The project will cost $180,370 and includes installation of 14 new poles and lights and a control system. The council will decide the issue at its meeting today, scheduled for 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 77 Fair Drive.
Also on the agenda, the council will consider whether to send a letter to President Bush condemning illegal immigration and it will take a first look at plans for a live/work development planned for the Sobeca district.
