TWO LOCALS ADVANCE

CHARLESTON, N.C. — Top seeds Misty May-Treanor, a Newport Harbor High product, and Kerri Walsh advanced to the final four of the Assn. of Volleyball Professionals Charleston Open after defeating fifth-seeds Holly McPeak and Logan Tom 21-15, 21-15 in Saturday’s evening session at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island.

Fourth-seeds Mike Lambert, a Costa Mesa resident, and Stein Metzger upset top seeds Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal with a 17-21, 21-15, 15-10 win.

Lambert and Metzger advanced to today’s final four; Gibb and Rosenthal will play today for a spot in the final four.
