Sweep to regional title moves UCI up in polls

Coach Dave Serrano’s UC Irvine baseball squad is ranked No. 4 nationally this week by Baseball America after the Anteaters went 3-0 in winning the Round Rock Regional. UCI, 43-15-1 overall, moved up five spots from last week’s poll as the program has achieved its highest Division I ranking.
The Anteaters climbed nine spots to No. 6 in the Collegiate Baseball poll this week.
UCI travels to Wichita State (53-20) for a Super Regional match-up beginning Saturday at 9 a.m., which will be televised by ESPN2. The Anteaters also play Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (ESPN) Sunday, and if necessary, 9:30 a.m. or 4:00 p.m. Monday. The Shockers are ranked seventh by Collegiate Baseball and eighth by Baseball America.
The winner will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
