Documentary about India to be shown at library

The Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado Ave., will pre-screen the PBS documentary, “Breaking the Curse,” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The documentary focuses on India’s problems in dealing with the underprivileged classes in its country, and details the efforts of an Atlanta woman who initiated a successful program there to rehabilitate people afflicted with leprosy. Daryn Kagan, former CNN anchor, producer Brian Kosisky and Becky Douglas, president of Rising Star Outreach and the subject of the documentary, will present the screening in the Friends Meeting Room of the library.
