Lions’ Robinson ready for parties in Newport

Former Alabama cornerback Ramzee Robinson will be at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort June 18 to celebrate his newfound irrelevancy.

Robinson was the last pick of the 2007 NFL draft, no. 255, scooped up by the Detroit Lions, making him the 32nd Mr. Irrelevant.

The festivities for Mr. Irrelevant kick off with an arrival party and “shower of gifts” on the 18th, followed by the All-Star Lowsman Banquet June 20 at the Newport Beach Marriott.

Irrelevant Week ends with the Ultimate Tailgate Party and Miss Irrelevant contest, held at American Legion Hall in Newport Beach.

Robinson made 49 appearances for the Crimson Tide, including 36 starts. He recorded 140 tackles, broke up 20 pass attempts, forced two fumbles, and had four interceptions.
