Girls Under 12

Wahinis: Page Keys, Carly Christian and Jenna Frum scored two goals each for the Wahinis. Nicole Franco, Kathryn Snell and Brenda Luna contributed with key passing and assists. Julia Frei and McKenna Johnson each tapped a ball into the net and Samantha Sanchez scored on a penalty kick.

Girls under-8Tidal Waves: Destry Comp scored two goals and Julia Ackerman added an insurance goal. Emma Hammond also stood out for the Tidal Waves with several great dribbling runs. Siena Amoroso nearly scored on an impressive shot on goal. Lauren Henke and Isabella “Coco” Morris contributed on defense. Vanessa Crandall and Missy Taylor controlled the midfield with great passing and positioning. Brianna Smith and Hannah Alderson led the offense.

Girls under-5Blue Dolphins vs. Silver Dolphins: The Blue Dolphins: Trinity Rodman, Lauren Braun, McKenna Kummerfeldt, Nicole Kincaid and Jayd Sprague played a great game against the Silver Dolphins. Trinity and McKenna scored goals, and Lauren and Nicole provided great assists. Jayd provided superb defense and offense, and scored a goal.

Newport Beach Little League

AAA Division

Cardinals 11, Cubs 1: Jake Hastings was three for three with a home run, leading the Cardinals to the win. Hastings scored three times, including his two-run home run in the second inning which broke open the game for the Cardinals. Clint Henderson and Teddy Somekh were both two for two, while J.B. Lee and Patrick Standel contributed base hits. On the mound, Standel pitched three shutout innings and did not give up a hit.

Cardinals 8, White Sox 3: The Cardinals finished the regular season with a 15-1 record, following their win over the White Sox on Saturday. The Cards’ first-place finish in the National League qualifies them for the District 55 Tournament of Champions beginning June 4th.

Jackson Rhodes had a solo home run in the game, while J.B. Lee went three for three and had three RBIs. Clint Henderson was two for two with a walk that resulted in the Cardinals’ first run. Other hits for the Cards came from Ryan Kleinman and Ryan Maister, who scored in the fifth inning. Defensively, Maister pitched the first two innings and posted three strikeouts from the mound. Shortstop Jake Hastings made four great plays resulting in outs, and Max Carr was a brick wall behind the plate. The White Sox’ Jordan Black had an RBI triple, and Spencer Carroll and Alexander Taketa also had hits.
