TODAYGOLF TOURNAMENT

The Wellness Community Orange County, a nonprofit organization providing free support programs to local cancer patients and their families, will sponsor the 5th Annual Golf Classic from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newport Beach Country Club, 1600 East Coast Highway, Newport Beach. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf, contests, lunch, silent and live auctions, cocktails and dinner. The cost is $250 per person; $900 per foursome; $75 for the banquet and auction only. SATURDAYSWING-A-THON

Students from Woodland Elementary School, 2025 Garden Lane, Costa Mesa, will participate in a 12-hour “Swing-A-Thon” from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to raise funds for kindergarten swings that were removed three years ago. Participants will sign up donors and pledge to keep the swings swinging for 12 hours; students will swing in shifts all day. The Costa Mesa police helicopter will fly over during the event.
