Pacific Coast League finalsBONSALL — After losing four golfers to injuries, Corona del Mar Coach Mike Starkweather saw Taylor Keddington and David Su qualify out of Thursday’s Pacific Coast League championships at San Luis Rey Downs to the CIF Southern Section individual tournament.
“From being so down, and not going to the team championships, this is great,” said Starkweather, whose team last year placed 12th in the CIF Southern Section South Coast Team Divisional.
Keddington finished in third place after firing an even-par 72, giving him a two-day total of 148. Su was right behind Keddington, as his 149 was good enough for fourth.
Su, last year’s league champion, was named the league MVP, said Starkweather.
Josh Starnes had a 163 total and placed eighth.
Keddington and Su, taking two of the league’s four berths to CIF, will compete at SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach on May 14 at 7 a.m.
Starkweather said Keddington and sophomore Camden Nicholson made first-team, all-league, and Josh Starnes the second team.
