STANFORD, Calif. — The UC Irvine men’s golf team finished fourth in the 15-team tournament that concluded Sunday at the Stanford University Golf Course.
UCI sophomore Tim Cha finished 11th individually, after shooting 66-73-73—212 in the 54-hole event.
Sophomore Sean Shahi (19th at 215), senior Brian Edick (24th at 217), freshman John Chin (41st at 221) and senior Jay Choi (46th at 222) helped the Anteaters post a team total of 862.
Stanford (838) won a tiebreaker against Minnesota to win the event, while Oregon State was third (860).
Stanford’s Rob Grube (eight-under-par 202) was the medalist.
Coach Paul Smolinski’s Anteaters have earned nine top-10 tournament finishes this season. They compete in the Big West Conference Championships April 23-24.

TEMPE, Ariz. — The No. 11-ranked Sun Devils seized a 7-4 halftime lead and held on to upset the No. 7-ranked Anteaters in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest Sunday.
Senior Robyn Kaake scored four goals for the Anteaters (16-10, 3-8 in conference), as ASU improved to 12-11, 5-6.

SAN DIEGO — The Anteaters concluded their regular season with a 30-27, 30-25, 30-19 sweep in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest Saturday night at RIMAC Arena.
The Anteaters (24-5, 17-5 in the MPSF) finish third in the conference, earning the No. 3 seed in the MPSF Tournament. UCI begins the conference tournament with a quarterfinal match Saturday at home against Hawaii at Crawford Court.
UCI senior Jayson Jablonsky had a match-high 14 kills while hitting .650.
Senior Matt Webber added 10 kills and five digs while middle blockers Aaron Harrell, a junior, and senior David Smith each pitched in eight kills.
Harrell hit .571.
Senior setter Brian Thornton totaled 36 assists and a team-high four blocks.
The Anteaters hit .400 for the match and out-blocked the Tritons, 7-4.
UCSD fell to 5-23, 2-20.
