Public Art Tour Day

The City Arts Commission and Cultural Arts Department will hold their second annual Public Art Tour Day from 2 to 5 p.m., April 22.

Docent-led trolley and walking tours will leave the Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Drive, every 30 minutes, starting at 2 p.m. In addition, the museum will offer docent-led tours of its current exhibitions.

The tours conclude with an artist reception and presentation of John Barber and Louis Longi’s upcoming public art installation at the new maintenance yard and public parking facility on Laguna Canyon Road and Terry Thornsley’s sculpture at Crescent Bay Point Park.

Visitors will be able to park at the Lumberyard parking lot, 521 Forest Ave., and take a free shuttle to the Laguna Art Museum.

Public Art Tour Day is free and was funded by the lodging establishments and city.

Exhibition winners named

Laguna College of Art & Design announced the winners of the Student Juried Exhibition on April 5 at the First Thursdays Art Walk gallery reception.

Awards were presented to freshmen through seniors in a variety of categories representing all disciplines of study at the college.

Receiving Best of Major honors were senior Karina Gazizova (animation); senior Katie Schmid (drawing and painting); junior Tanner Teale (graphic design); and senior Erin Metzdorf (illustration).

Honorable mentions were presented to Bobbie Hernandez, Varuna Darensbourg, Karen Krajenbrink, and Khoa Le (animation); Orin Fisher, Elise Debes, Nicholas Enevoldsen, Colleen Police, Shane Daley, Michael Harnish, Candace George, Adrienne Stein, Salem Cage and Lindsey Jaggers (drawing and painting); Galina Vishnevski, Ben Faubion and Bahador Shojapour (graphic design); Tracy Green, Tiffany England, Kate Daly, Vladmir Maximov and Jonathan Luczycki (illustration); Jason Norton, Francisca O’Toole, Daniel Heidner, Beau Stanton and Charles Ly (hybrid major); Michael Herrera and Lara McLauglin (foundation); Daina Mattis (sculpture) and Amy Spain (poetry).

All students were invited to submit artwork, which was then juried collectively by the college faculty and judges from The Pacific Art Foundation.

Students received scholarship awards; the exhibition continues through April 27 in the college gallery located at 2222 Laguna Canyon Rd.

The free exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ample free parking is available.

Woman’s Club art show nears

The Woman’s Club’s sixth annual Women Artists’ Art Auction, Show and Sale will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on April 15 and 22 at the Woman’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Drive.

The event showcases the talent of Laguna Beach women artists; attendance is free, and refreshments will be available.

All artwork is one-of-a-kind, and will include paintings, jewelry, collage, photography, sculpture, quilts and fabric art and decorative items.

Both days will feature a silent auction of works from each artist that will support the Woman’s Club.

Acoustic artist at gallery

Mandarin Fine Art Gallery, 1294 So. Coast Highway, Suite C, will host an evening of wine, art and music featuring acoustic artist Ethan beginning at 7:30 p.m., April 14.
