Coastal Division TournamentHUNTINGTON BEACH — Newport Harbor High’s Josh George (135-pound division) and Brian Beaudette (heavyweight) have advanced to today’s semifinals of the CIF individual tournament at Marina High.
Cameron Rausch (215) and Adrian Luchs (171) earned their way into consolation action.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Ontario Christian 55, Sage Hill 38ONTARIO — The Lightning seized an 8-0 lead, but 6-foot-3 senior Justus Jones (23 points) and 6-7 senior Tyler Vanderzee (11) helped the No. 2-seeded Knights prevail with ease in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA playoffs.
Sage Hill (14-13), which returns its starting five and all but one player next season, was led by juniors Preston Oklejas (11 points), Connor Rose (11) and Jamie McGee (10).
Rose and Oklejas each had seven rebounds.
Ontario Christian improved to 21-5.
Sage Hill Coach Steve Keith said the Knights exploited their height advantage to score on several putbacks.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Mira Costa 11, Costa Mesa 1MANHATTAN BEACH — The Mustangs opened the season against Mira Costa, and on Friday, they ended their season against Mira Costa.
Talhia Nuñez scored halfway through the second quarter on a penalty shot, but Costa Mesa (13-13) lost the CIF Southern Section Division II first-round playoff game.
“They were more physical than us,” said Costa Mesa Coach Tim Postiff, whose team has been outscored by Mira Costa, 24-3, in two matches. “They executed really well.”
Goalie Brittany Mucha made three saves for Costa Mesa, which Postiff said missed advancing out of the first round after doing so the previous three years in Division VI.

Calvary Chapel (Murrieta) 3,MURRIETA — The Lightning nearly secured an upset in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division VI playoffs Friday.
Sage Hill 1
Sage Hill (12-9-2) led Calvary Chapel (17-5-4) by a 1-0 margin for the first 70 minutes of the match.
But the Warriors tied the game on a penalty kick and scored two goals in the next four minutes.
“The rest of the game we played pretty well,” Sage Hill Coach Amy Ray said. “It was a good season. The girls from the beginning to the end improved on communicating and trusting each other and really playing with heart.”
The game was the last in the careers of seniors Kara Percival, Ali McLaughlin, Lauren Neale, Emily Webb and Rachel Haber.
