Orange Coast 73, Riverside 68COSTA MESA — The Pirates made more three-pointers in the first half (eight) than the Tigers had field goals (six) en route to the Orange Empire Conference home upset Friday.
Steve Cornett led the winners (15-15, 6-6 in conference) with 17 points, including 11 free throws in 14 attempts, and six rebounds.
Mookie Pierre had 33 for Riverside (26-4, 9-3), ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 2 in Southern California.
Southern California regional pairings come out Monday.

Orange Coast 88, Riverside 69COSTA MESA — The Pirates completed a perfect Orange Empire Conference season for the first time in the program’s 30-season history against the visitng Tigers Friday.
OCC (28-3, 14-0 in conference) claims its third conference crown and extended its winning streak to 17. The Pirates, ranked No. 4 in Southern California and No. 7 in the state, have won 26 of their last 27, heading into the Southern California regionals.
Freshman Courtney Ford had 28 points and nine rebounds, while Rachael Maulit had 10 assists for the winners.
Riverside is 11-20, 5-9.
Devin Hundley had 13 pointts and Robin Smith had eight assists for OCC.

BASEBALL
UC Irvine 9, Houston 7HOUSTON — A two-run, pinch-hit double by Zach Robinson capped a three-run fifth inning to help UCI erase a 5-4 deficit in the opener of a three-game series Friday.
Wes Etheridge allowed one run in 3 1/3 relief innings to improve to 3-0 and Blair Erickson worked a scoreless ninth for his third save for UCI (4-2-1).
Robinson went three for three with three RBIs to pace UCI’s 14-hit attack.
Houston fell to 3-3.

UC Irvine def. StanfordSTANFORD — UC Irvine senior middle blocker David Smith became the school’s all-time leader in block assists as the Anteaters posted a 30-27, 30-22, 30-20 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation road win Friday.
Smith had four block assists to up his career total to 377, eclipsing Kyle Weichert, who had 374 from 2001-04.
Jayson Jablonsky had 11 kills, while teammate Matt Webber had 10 as the No. 3-ranked Anteaters improved to 14-3, 8-3 in conference.
Aaron Harrell had nine kills, four total blocks and hit .571 for the winners, for whom freshman Cole Reinholm hit .538 with eight kills.
Stanford fell to 1-14, 1-9.
Orange Coast def. MoorparkCOSTA MESA — Freshman outside hitter Kevin Welch had 10 kills, 10 digs and four blocks and freshman Rick Schroeder had nine kills on 11 swings in the Pirates’ 30-22, 30-28, 30-25 home victory Friday.
Sophomore Sean Woods added six digs and two aces for OCC (3-1).
Moorpark fell to 1-3.
