Meatballs rally for overtime victory

The Meatballs scored the final four goals of their Howe Division match against the Kings, including the game-winner from Daniel Burkhardt in an overtime shootout, to pull out an 8-7 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

It was the only goal scored by Burkhardt, who led the Meatballs with two assists.

Travis Hunter, Kristian Burkhardt and Ethan Higbee led the Meatballs in scoring with two goals apiece. Austin Arcala scored once with an assist and Drew Sorbom and Ethan Loy each had an assist.

The Kings, who held a 7-4 lead through two quarters, were led in scoring by Andrew Medrano and Jeremy Corwin, who each scored twice. Auston Leming, Brandon White and Travis Bertrand also scored.

White had a pair of saves and Bertrand, Leming and Matthew Gane each had an assist.

In other Howe Division action

Hawks 5, Bulldogs 2

Steven Landis scored twice and the Hawks pulled away in the third quarter against the Bulldogs.

Manny Banuelos, Dylan Rodriguez and Sean Kitchen also scored and Banuelos, Kitchen and Carson Gibbs each had an assist.

Brad Giczewski recorded 16 saves.

Matthew Bozanich scored both goals for the Bulldogs and Chris Martinez and Trevor Brenden each had an assist.

TnT 8, Who Cares 2

TnT led from start to finish in beating Who Cares.

Marcus Kurth and Andrew Staffieri both scored twice to pace TnT’s offense. Single goals were scored by Brett Neubauer, Garrett Blackwell, Johnny Richardson and Cody Sizemore. Blackwell was also in on four assists, Cody Sizemore and Brandon Sizemore each had two assists and Kobi Pekich and Justin Speak each had one.

Jack Miller had 25 saves.

Who Cares goals were posted by Derek Slayton and Michael Hernandez. Bryce Marino had an assist and Dylan Moan recorded 29 saves.
