CDM’S SMITH PICKS UCLA
Corona del Mar High senior Adam Smith, a 6-foot standout on the Sea Kings’ boys’ volleyball team, has committed to continue his career at UCLA.
Becoming a Bruin seemed inevitable for Smith, who will become the eighth member of his family to attend the school.
He said he plans to sign his national letter of intent in April. Smith, a second-team All-CIF Southern Section Division II performer last year, is projected to be a libero for the Bruins, the defending national champions.
Smith said he was told he could become a difference-maker in the future.
Smith was also second-team All-CIF in Division II in 2005 when the Sea Kings won the section championship. He said he wanted to keep the family tradition going at UCLA.
His older sister, Morgan, played for the Bruins and graduated from UCLA in 2005. His other older sister, Jordan, is a sophomore and competes on the women’s team.
Smith’s father, Scott, and his two uncles, Steve and Stuart, also attended UCLA. Smith’s has two other uncles and an aunt who were also Bruins.
