Did you know the Newport Beach Public Library is a leader among public libraries nationwide in checking out audio books on iPods?
Make jogging, commuting, exercise or a walk in the park more pleasant by listening to your favorite authors. Additionally, the library has OverDrive digital books for listening on your computer or MP3 player, Adobe e-books and Mobipocket e-books for reading on your computer, PDA or other hand-held device. Please note that OverDrive digital books are not compatible with Apple iPods, but the library has plenty of titles for these differing formats.
These fiction and nonfiction titles are easy to browse in the library’s catalog and download to your device of choice in the comfort of your home. Go to the library’s website, www.newportbeachlibrary.org, to see all the information you need to join the electronic book revolution.

The Woman’s Murder Club steps in to investigate the hospital personnel in a suspense-filled Patterson tome. You might even disregard the freeway traffic commuting with this mystery. “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” (for iPod) by Stephen R. Covey: This perennial nonfiction bestseller is on most people’s must-read list, but finding time to read it is another story. The perfect solution is to check it out on an iPod. Now that’s an effective habit. “California Tenants’ Rights, 16th edition” (for Adobe Reader 6 or later) by Janet Portman and David Brown: This reliable guide from Nolo Press has been a trusted legal mainstay for renters since 1971. Experience the added bonus of having all the latest legal forms, instructions and texts downloaded to your computer with no limitations on printing or copying. “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” (for OverDrive) by Mark Twain: Last-minute assignment due and all printed versions checked out? Not to worry, the unabridged, digital version is always available, even at midnight, from the library’s website. Burn this title to CD during the lending period for your best book report ever, or transfer it to your favorite hand-held device. Either way, it’s an A.You can check out up to five electronic titles at a time. The typical lending period is 21 days and is automatically “returned” to the library. It’s easy to delete an expired eBook from your files or to check it out again. You can also place a hold up to 10 items.
