Comeback lifts Thunder, 6-3

The Thunder scored the final four goals of its Patrick Division match against the Sharp Shooters and went on to pull out a 6-3 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

A goal by Chris Weldon and two more by Michael Thomas in the second quarter allowed the Sharp Shooters to take a 3-2 lead.

The Thunder also scored its two goals in the frame, getting one each from David Schenker and Garrick Langer.

In the fourth quarter, Schenker scored consecutive goals, followed by scores from Jacob Gonzales and Langer to put the Thunder in front for good. Langer, Gonzales, Daniel Reed and Tristan DeBoom each had an assist.

Thomas and Patrick Moan had assists for the Sharp Shooters and Casey Childers had 25 saves.

Velcro 9, C2C Kings 8

Grant Murchison scored in an overtime shootout to lift Velcro to the victory. It was the first goal of the match for Murchison, whose game-winner came after two misses in the shootout.

The C2C Kings missed all three of their shot attempts in overtime. Zac Ganzer scored three goals to lead Velcro.

Anthony Thompson scored twice with an assist, Steven Strother scored once and had four assists, J.J. Millikan had a goal and assist, Erich Post Jr. had a goal and Trevor Scott an assist. Jake Porter recorded 35 saves.

Cody Merrick’s three goals and assist paced the C2C Kings. Kyle Merrick had a goal and three assists, Blake Miller scored once with an assist, Kyle Betz, Andrew Skowron and Shaun Black each scored and Craig Wellander had an assist. Jessica Quinones had 19 saves.
