    ART EXHIBIT

    Newport Beach City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd., is featuring an exhibit of paintings by artist Michaell Magrutsche titled “Transforming Public Spaces with Art Versus Décor” in its lobby. Magrutsche’s 29 paintings are a display of organic shapes and vibrant colors, leaving the viewer to determine if what they are seeing is an “abstract or concrete image.” Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.     FREEDOM FROM SMOKING

    Hoag Hospital Community Medicine and Pulmonary Department is offering an eight-week clinic on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. designed to help people formulate a plan to quit smoking. Participants may join at any time; new eight-week sessions begin as soon as the current one ends, and rollover time is permitted. Sessions meet in the hospital’s Conference Center, Room 3 (lower campus) at One Hoag Drive, Newport Beach. Cost is $95; for information, call (949) 764-5511.

    ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

    As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa, is featuring an Anniversary Retrospective Gallery Exhibit in the new Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavillion.

    The retrospective is divided into decades, and features photographs, books, films, videos, artifacts and more from 1940 through 2006.
